Marvin Lipofsky, a two-time recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, is recognized as a pioneer in the contemporary glass movement. Lipofsky perpetuates his involvement by teaching and lecturing at more than 300 national and international workshops, conferences, and universities all over the world. He introduced glass as an art material at UC-Berkeley in 1964 where he taught until 1972. Con-currently, he founded the glass department at the California College of Arts and Crafts in 1967 and headed the department as a full professor until 1987. he is a co-founder of the Glass Art Society. Lipofsky approaches glass as an organic, sculptural medium; resulting in his signature amorphic forms. His glass sculptures have been featured in more than forty solo exhibitions, numerous private collections, and more than ninety museums world wide.
